#Normalize Normal Bodies

What does the #NormalizeNormalBodies campaign mean?

Mik Zazon is a popular body positive influencer who has recently been popping up all over my explore page on Instagram. She is a health and fitness coach from Columbus, Ohio who suffered from three different eating disorders before realizing and deciding that she needed to change her lifestyle.

Mik is the founder of the Normalize Normal Bodies movement which aims to raise awareness on the benefits of body positivity and self-love. Nowadays Mik is speaking, writing, and partnering with brands to share her story, raise awareness on eating disorders and mental health, as well as encouraging others to love themselves fearlessly.

One of the things that I love the most about her, is how relatable and genuine her content is. Mik discusses topics that we all think about, but she dares to share her truth and her story.

I find this incredibly brave, especially living in our overly edited, Instagram obsessed ‘perfect’ world.

Positive Affirmations

Affirmations are simple, short and powerful statements. When you say, think and hear them, they become thoughts that can be manifested into your life.

Positive affirmations are pivotal toward your happiness and mental clarity because they can uncover thoughts and emotions that you didn’t even know you needed to hear or feel.

Affirmations affect your conscious and subconscious mind, which in turn, affects your behavior, thinking patterns, habits, emotions, and environment.

You can think of affirmations as a sort of mantra or prayer that you can tell yourself every day for more effective results. For example, waking up and telling yourself:

“I am grateful.”

“I am beautiful.”

“I have a purpose.”

“I am alive and happy.”

“My body is for living.”

The #NormalizeNormalBodies campaign is a hashtag movement on social media that has created an online community and opened up important conversations. By showing transparency and relatability online, people feel more confident and comfortable with themselves and those around them.

Following positive accounts online can help create a safe and healthy environment for you.

As I mentioned earlier, affirmations can sometimes uncover subconscious thoughts, and following accounts can be affecting these thoughts. This is why it’s important to follow people that bring out positivity and authenticity.

Here is a list of accounts on Instagram that I love!

Normalizing Normal Bodies is more than a movement. It applies to everyone and serves as a reminder to be kinder to ourselves and those around us. Everybody is beautiful and there is no standard size or ideal shape to be categorized in.

Self-love is a long and unique journey for everyone. We all have insecurities, but we wouldn’t be special without our differences!

Don’t be afraid to be who you are 🙂
