I’m sure you’ve heard it all before:
“New year, new me!”
“This year I’m really going to get my shit together.”
“These are my new year’s resolutions…”
Well, they usually don’t end up happening. Why? From personal experience, I believe it’s because we put in effort at the beginning of the year, and then just forget about our goals and plans as we get busier.
But the end of 2020 felt a bit different. I feel as though most people were anticipating the end of the year a lot more this time around because of all the hardships that came with it. Nonetheless, change is a wonderful thing and so are beginnings and endings.
Reflecting
The end of the year is a good time to reflect and acknowledge everything that you accomplished or experienced. It’s also the perfect opportunity to reflect on what you want to change or pursue in the new year.
Yesterday evening I pulled out my journal and answered a few of the questions below. I didn’t realize how much I had or wanted to say until I started writing, and it felt amazing to let it all out.
Visualizing
I always enjoy writing down goals, thoughts or ideas into a journal because I feel like my words become more real. It’s a sort of act of manifestation that can turn your thoughts into reality. I’ve concluded that visualization and manifestation go hand in hand.
If you speak your thoughts into existence — there’s a higher chance that they will become true. I believe it’s because we are acknowledging the thought and then we are reminded of it more often.
Visualizing yourself accomplishing your goals is an extremely beneficial tool that can actually enable you to get things done. If you’re constantly thinking about a goal and visualizing ways in which you can accomplish it, the odds are much higher that you will act on it.
As we shed some bad habits and go through many changes, let’s embrace endings and fresh beginnings. Set an intention and write it down! Trust me, it will help.
Here are some of my new year intentions:
- 2021 will be a year of personal freedom and self-expression
- 2021 will be a year of creativity and inspiration
- 2021 will be a year of no holding back!
- 2021 will be a year of transparency, vulnerability and openness
- 2021 will be a year of commitment and dedication
- 2021 will be a year of positive physical and mental health
- 2021 will be a year of changes, endings and beginnings
Join me and write down some goals and intentions! It feels so good to start the year on a positive note. Wishing you all love, health and happiness.
Happy 2021!
