’90s Inspired Looks for Winter

So, now that we are in the midst of winter, our closets look a lot different than they did in the summer. The transition from summer, fall, and winter can hit hard if you’re not used to the cold weather. The good news is that there is plenty of outfit inspiration to choose from!

It’s such a satisfying feeling to scroll through endless amounts of celebrity outfit pictures for inspiration. I have folders on Pinterest filled with outfit pictures for different occasions, seasons, moods, etc. I always think it’s fun to look back on ’90s inspired outfits because you get to see what would nowadays look ridiculous, as well as the outfits that would be super trendy right now.

Kate Moss

Everyone needs a beige/brown winter coat to throw on top of a turtleneck or sweater. They go perfectly with jeans, trousers, or skirts and are guaranteed to make you look like you have your life together. Coats are great when you’re too lazy to put a look together, but still want to look cute and stay warm.

Cindy Crawford

We love a minimal leather and jean look. Leather blazers and jackets are perfect to pair with turtlenecks for the chicest and put together outfit. The good thing about leather is that you can really dress it up or down. Cindy exemplifies the perfect mix between casual and classy.

Halle Berry

Nothing says ’90s more than cheetah print, turtlenecks, and mini black sunglasses. Let’s be real…cheetah print, vintage light-wash jeans, and black chunky boots are so trendy right now.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Everyone loves an all-black look, especially if it involves leather. You can find faux leather pants in almost every color, but there’s something about the all black look that makes you feel like such a bad ass. Pair the fit with some cool sunglasses, hoop earrings, or funky coat, and you are good to go!

Princess Diana

Princess Diana was way ahead of her time…who knew you could match a blazer with cowboy boots and sweats and still look this good? Nowadays, we all basically live in sweatpants. Making loungewear trendy is probably one of the only positive things we got out of 2020. When you’re feeling lazy, pair some sweats with a matching hoodie and chunky sneakers and you’re right on trend.

Elizabeth Hurley

Vintage light-wash jeans, black chunky boots, a puffer jacket, black sunglasses, and a zebra print purse. That’s it. That’s the look. Hurley makes the outfit look sexy in such a casual way, and I love it.

Lauren Hutton

I am obsessed with oversized coats. I feel like you automatically look cool, and you’re getting all the benefits of layering and staying warm. The great thing about an oversized coat like this one, is that you can wear it on top of basically anything: a dress, jeans, sweats, skirts, trousers, etc.

I also want to point out that in the ’90s, plus size fashion was not very common, especially among celebrities. BUT, clearly, curvy girls can rock any fashion style just as much as anybody else. So, go get your hands on that old vintage clothes hanging in your moms’ closet, and pair it with something a little more modern to recreate your fave looks.
