Red underwear is meant to bring good luck in the new year. At least according to an old New Year’s Eve tradition. Is this true?
Who’s invented it? The Romans, about 2.000 years ago. Back in the days, red underwear was believed to be a lucky charm in love life. Over the centuries the custom became a New Year’s tradition. Today, red lingerie is not just about love’s bliss, it’s a lucky charm bringing luck throughout the next year.
Especially the women in Italy, South America and China go nuts about wearing red on New Year’s Eve. Strictly speaking, the red bra and knickers must be a gift and shouldn’t have body contact before the night of New Year. Wearing them afterwards is strictly forbidden. Otherwise, the luck achieved fades away.
You don’t feel like red? No problem at all! These colours are believed to have miraculous powers too: yellows bring wealth and success, white helps you in balancing your life and thanks to pink you’ll find the love of your life.
Sheer superstition? It probably is. But it doesn’t mean that it’s useless. If you strongly believe in something, as is well known, it can come true. It’s worth a try, isn’t it?
