Exclusive insight into the designer’s second collection.
Anyone who has read our latest print edition already knows it: Inan Işik and her sustainable fashion label. Soon her second collection will be on the market and we already got an exclusive insight!
“Color of Emotion” is the title of the collection, because emotions and colors play an important role. The design process took place at a time when Inan was somewhere between burnout and depression. Far away from her family in Turkey and under immense stress, as she had just founded her label – but for the first time she had the feeling of making something really significant with her collection. That’s why she didn’t take a break, but worked tirelessly on the collection. “Color of Emotion” consists of only four different pieces, but these come in different bright colours that reflect Inan’s emotions.
Red – is a very important colour for Inan. It stands for the connection to her family after she felt physically and mentally distanced from them.
Yellow – in contrast to red – stands for the connection to herself and to her childhood. Inan was born in a small Kurdish village. There are very few photos from her childhood, but one shows her with her father. In this photo she is wearing a yellow dress.
Blue – this colour stands for her adulthood. Blue reminds Inan of the sea, which had a calming effect on her during her burnout.
Beige – stands for the acceptance of her new self. As an immigrant in Denmark she felt like a black sheep at first. She missed the colours and the warmth of her homeland, because in Denmark there seemed to be only white walls everywhere. That is why beige stands for change and the acceptance of this change.
“Color of Emotion” will not be available until January 2020. In the meantime you can still shop the current collection of Inan Isik.
