We’ve been dealing with COVID-19 for almost a year, and now most places are going into a second lockdown. At this point, our lives have shifted to a remote, stay at home environment. Getting comfortable with being home has not been an easy task, but there are many tips to help make your room a cozier space.
Adjusting to this new reality is uncomfortable, but if we don’t shift the way we are living, we might feel trapped, anxious, or depressed. That’s why we need to make our rooms cozier, so that we can stay motivated and healthy at home.
Cleaning, Organizing, and Decluttering
For starters, we should be making sure our room stays clean and organized since we’ll be spending a lot of time hanging out at home. It’s easy to start piling up garbage or clothes in a random corner of your room, but let’s not do that. Making your room look cute and organized can help you maintain it looking that way.
Having a clean room makes it more inviting and can help you feel more comfortable when working from home or just hanging out.
Candles + Lighting
Creating a positive and friendly ambience
Setting a mood for your room can help you feel more comfortable and inspired when working, creating, or chilling. You can set a mood with lighting and colors. I highly recommend using a Himalayan salt lamp because when you light them, they give off a warm, reddish-pink glow. These salt lamps are said to provide several benefits and can boost mood, improve sleep, clean the air, and even help people with asthma breathe better.
Candles are also great to have in your room because they create a soothing atmosphere, give off a delicious scent and can help reduce stress. They are nice to keep on your bedside table for extra relaxation at night or to create a cozy vibe.
Good lighting can be a determining factor between feeling calm or anxious in your bedroom. You want to go with soft bedside lamps or natural lighting if possible.
Decorations
There are endless possibilities when it comes to decorating and styling your room. If you want to create a cozy space, I recommend getting an area rug to match your room.
Blankets can also be a good addition for your cozy vibe, and you can match the color to the different elements of your room. Art and pictures are always my favorite decorative elements because they show a bit more of your personality.
Plants and flowers are the perfect room decor because they bring a room to life. There are different types of plants that are specifically recommended to have as a bedroom plant. Some are easier to maintain, or require little to no natural light, and others are meant for purifying the air.
Here are some plant recommendations:
- Snake plant
- Monstera
- Lavender
- Pothos
- Rubber tree plant
These are just a few tips that I recommend if you are looking to create a cozy atmosphere in your room. It is incredibly important to be maintaining yourself healthy and happy during this stressful time.
Creating a positive environment from home can help you stay inspired and motivated. Your room should feel like your safe space, so you might as well make it look cute!
