With her creative vision and determined spirit, Char Ellesse makes a strong case for her community.
Char Ellesse is the founder of her own storytelling platform.
Is it always binary? That’s what Char Ellesse asks her followers on her business profile Girlswillbeboys. That’s exactly what young creative Char is all about. Blurring the lines between binary gender roles and enabling a space for open discourse and queer exchange of experiences. That’s why the Englishwoman launched the storytelling platform GWBB (Girls Will Be Boys) and stages femininity and masculinity in a new, modern way. Through beautiful photo series and uniquely produced short films, Char uses this platform to tell stories about the path of self-acceptance.
The hashtag #omgshesbald, for example, shows among other things, what experiences women with baldness face, and how liberating the decision can be to opt for a hairstyle that does not conform to a norm. The hashtag has already given rise to very inspiring videos, panel talks and live screenings in London two years in a row.
Girlswillbeboys is therefore aimed at all those who define themselves far from a norm, and the platform encourages free expression and strength against social stereotypes. Whether it’s appearance, sexuality, gender, or ethnicity, Char Ellesse is committed to freedom and self-acceptance. She lives her life the way she wants to without apologizing for it.
Char’s looks are exciting and creative
Besides her activist engagement, Char Ellesse also displays her creativity on her personal Instagram profile. She shows her followers how diverse the image of a woman can be. Whether it’s extravagant makeup, a gaudy power suit, a supposedly ‘masculine’ look, or a lingerie outfit, Char does not limit herself. With her style, she inspires her community and makes a great contribution to diverse representation on the web.
We Love Char Ellesse!
The Internet desperately needs women like Char! Without individuals who are free to express themselves and be true to themselves, platforms like Instagram would be a pretty bleak place. The world is colorful and diverse and profiles like Char Ellesse’s reflect just that. We find her love for herself and her open-minded nature and talent in terms of styling and video production very inspiring. You rock Char!
