Lizzo has been under fire this week because of her recent posts on Instagram and Tik Tok showing her experience with a 10-day detox juice cleanse. She has been posting updates with the detox through videos she films throughout the day.
Many women were upset by her posts because it seems like she is advocating and promoting a diet culture fad. However, some commented and argued that her health and appearance shouldn’t be other people’s concern. Lizzo has always been extremely open with her fans when it comes to her body and female empowerment.
In case you didn’t know, Lizzo is one of the most popular musicians in the world. Not only is she musically gifted, she is also admired for her body positive and self-love attitude that has cultivated a community of powerful women. Lizzo is an icon for many, one being the plus size community. Her unapologetic attitude on social media is one of many things that people love about her.
Lizzo is known for spreading positive messages to her fans and followers through her vulnerable, honest, and unfiltered photos. Many of her Instagram posts are fun videos of her dancing and shaking her sexy ass, or semi-nude pictures that show off her curves, rolls, and what some people would call “imperfections.”
“Do what you want with your body.”
However, Lizzo is here to tell you that your body is yours to be celebrated because every single body and shape is worth being celebrated. Nobody should have to feel inferior or superior than anybody else, especially when it comes to people’s body, hair, skin tone, race, culture, etc.
Lizzo recently posted a video where she explained why she was doing a cleanse.
“In reality, November stressed me the f— out,” she said. “I drank a lot, I ate a lot of spicy things and things that f—ed my stomach up. I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was. I’m so proud of myself. I’m proud of my results. My sleep has improved, my hydration, my inner peace, my mental stability, my f—ing body, my f—ing skin, the whites of my eyes, I feel and look like a bad b— — and that’s it.””I’m a big girl who did a smoothie detox and I wanted to share it with you guys,” she concluded. “And every big girl should do whatever the f— they want with their bodies.”
If Lizzo, wants to go on a 10-day detox because she wants to feel healthier, go ahead! Nobody should be judged for how they choose to love or treat themselves.
What are your thoughts? I’d love to know!
