Accessories can be used as statement pieces to spice up any outfit. Sometimes, the accessory is what makes a look — making you feel like the coolest person in the room.
You know that feeling when you’re walking down the street or into a social gathering and you’re thinking: “yeah, I know I look cute!!!” And if you don’t, good news because accessories can help make you feel that way! So, let’s go over some accessories that plus-size influencer, Jessica Torres, styles and incorporates into her daily outfits.
Sunglasses
I’m going to be honest…sunglasses are probably my favorite adornment to add to an outfit. A good pair of shades make me feel powerful, and effortlessly cool. Not to mention, I can stare at whoever or whatever without making it too obvious. One of the great things about sunglasses is that they come in a variety of shapes, styles, and colors.
Hats
Bucket hats are the hottest trend, and I’m here for it. The shape and style of a bucket hat is relaxed and cool. Since it has a looser fit, it allows for more flexibility when it comes to hair styling. Sometimes I just want to get out of the house as fast as I can, and a bucket hat gives me the same effortlessly cool look I’m going for with an outfit.
Bags
There are so many bag options out there…it’s hard to choose one style, shape, or color. However, the slouchy, wrinkly, cloud bags seem to be the newest trend. One of the best qualities about this bag shape is that you can throw in a bunch of things in your purse without it looking weird.
Head Bands, Clips & Scrunchies
If you’re having a bad hair day, your problems are about to get a lot easier!
I’m a sucker for hair accessories because they make me feel nostalgic and reminiscent of my ’90s/2000s childhood. Big, fluffy scrunchies are cute to throw on and match with an outfit. Clips work wonders to part your hairline, move the hair out of your face, or simply to look cute.
Lastly, headbands are something I used to wear religiously as a little girl, but eventually grew out of. But I’m totally on board with bringing them back!! They’re so fun to color coordinate with an outfit and they add a unique look to any hairstyle.
Makeup & Nails
I think it’s safe to say that quarantine and lockdown regulations made people get a lot more creative at home. If I’m being honest, I don’t really remember the last time I got all glammed up. However, I will say that nowadays, even throwing on just a little bit of mascara or blush can make me feel 10x more confident and excited about my day.
Even if you’re not going anywhere special, apply your favorite makeup product! I promise you it will make you think twice about your appearance in the mirror. Either way, you look great!
I feel like having a proper manicure has taken priority in many people’s lives these days, and it’s totally understandable! With less exciting events going on in our lives, we might as well make the little things count and show off our cool nails!! From wavy lines, to polka dots, smiley faces, flowers, clouds, and more, the nail designs are endless.
Jewelry
Obviously, earrings and necklaces are going to make the cut! Sometimes all you need is a simple hoop to make an outfit stand out. Other times, a bold pair of earrings can highlight the rest of your look. Matching your jewelry to your outfits is essential, but it’s also really cute to throw on a funky pair of earrings to spice it up.
Jewelry trends nowadays range from a minimalistic style, to a chunky, fruity, colorful, look. I’m somewhere in the middle — it just depends on the look that I’m going for!
Phone Case
Last but not least, a good phone case. Since we basically carry our phones on us like our life depended on it, we might as well have a cute case for all of the mirror selfies we have hidden in our camera roll. There are endless case designs out there, just say the name and I promise there will be something you’re interested in!
